The roadrunner is one of the most beloved symbols of the Southwest, and this one is rendered in full stride, beak forward, tail fanned wide. Every section of the body is filled with stone inlay, fine silver channel lines dividing the surface into bold diagonal wedges. The head is turquoise with a black eye dot, the chest and belly run through lapis, opal, sugilite, and spiny oyster in sweeping diagonal bands, and the fanned tail is packed with spiny oyster orange, gaspeite green, sugilite purple, and black onyx in sharp contrasting stripes. The crest feathers and legs stay polished silver, which frames the color and keeps the silhouette clean. The back is stamped OP and 925, and the round bail fits any standard chain.
Compact at just over an inch wide but the color work is dense and the bird reads clearly even at a distance. The wear shot shows it sitting right at chest level on a standard chain, which is exactly where a piece like this belongs. One composition, all stones, no variants needed.
