A handcrafted Navajo etched pottery vase by Ben Billy, signed Bbl on the base. Formed from red clay in a striking gourd-neck form, this piece features a wide flared disc-shaped body that dramatically narrows into a long slender neck with a small open mouth. The full neck and upper shoulder are covered in a deep purple-gray slip, transitioning into a bold black slip band across the widest point of the disc body. Vertical etched line scoring runs through the black band, revealing the warm terracotta clay beneath in a bold geometric pattern. The lower body returns to natural unslipped terracotta. A dramatic and sculptural piece unlike any standard vase form.
