The most elemental of the three buffalo sculptures. Ben Billy works in a single matte terracotta red here, no color gradient, no contrast slip. Just the raw warmth of the clay and the depth of the carved lines. The shadows in the etchings do all the work, and there is plenty to look at.
Same upright slab form, 4 inches tall and 6 inches wide with a 1.13-inch depth. One side features vertical feather motifs framed within a rectangular border. The reverse presents a different geometric arrangement entirely. Two distinct displays in one piece. Signed "BL Navajo" on the bottom.
