A Navajo etched pottery jar by Ben Billy, signed BWL in terracotta orange script on the base. The round-bellied form with a short wide neck and open rim is covered entirely in a deep matte purple slip, with vertical etched rain lines running all the way around the body through three distinct horizontal bands: a deep black upper shoulder band just below the neck, a wide soft lavender mid-body band, and a rich warm brown lower band, all etched through to expose the warm terracotta clay beneath. The purple slip carries through the neck interior, a base band, and the rounded base.
