Navajo Etched Multiband Rain Line Round Pottery Vase by Ben Billy

A Navajo etched pottery vase by Ben Billy, initialed BW on the base. The wide squat round-bellied form has a short narrow neck and small flared rim, with diagonal etched rain lines sweeping in a spiral wrap around the entire body. Three distinct slip bands layer the upper body: a soft sage green shoulder band, a bold cobalt blue mid-band, and a warm blush pink lower band, all etched through with diagonal lines that expose the warm terracotta clay beneath. A dark brown horizontal band separates the slip work from the plain unslipped terracotta lower body and base.
