A Navajo etched pottery vase by Ben Billy. The wide squat open-bowl form is finished in a deep cobalt blue matte slip on the upper neck and rim, with a rich black matte slip across the mid-body, transitioning to a warm terracotta red clay lower body with a cobalt blue base band. Deep etched vertical rain drip lines are carved all the way around through the slip layers down into the terracotta clay below, creating a bold two-tone relief pattern that catches the light from every angle.
