A Navajo etched pottery jar by Ben Billy, marked BWL on the base. The wide nearly spherical form has a very short narrow neck and small open rim, with vertical etched rain lines running all the way around the full body. Three horizontal slip bands wrap the rounded belly: a cobalt blue upper shoulder band, a soft gray-lavender mid-band, and a rich golden amber lower band, all etched through with vertical lines that expose the warm terracotta clay beneath. The plain unslipped terracotta neck, upper shoulder, and rounded base frame the banded slip work cleanly.
