A Navajo etched pottery jar by Ben Billy, signed BW in terracotta orange script on the base. The wide squat round-bellied jar has a short neck and wide open rim finished in a deep matte black slip, with four bold horizontal bands wrapping the full belly: a cobalt blue upper shoulder band with jagged downward drip icicle etched marks, a warm terracotta mid-upper band, a rich golden amber mid-lower band, and a deep black lower band with short rectangular etched marks. Vertical etched rain lines run continuously through all four bands, exposing the warm terracotta clay beneath. The base is deep black with a swirl-burnished finish.
