Each vertebra in this necklace was once part of a living snake. Strung together on a waxed cotton cord, the bones interlock and shift with the wearer, mimicking the natural flex of a python's spine. It's an unusual piece, organic and a little primal, and it wears surprisingly lightly given how substantial it looks. The natural cream-white bone against the dark cord gives it a clean, graphic contrast that works dressed up or down.
These are handmade in Thailand from farm-raised python vertebrae, a by-product of existing local industries. Because the bones are natural, no two necklaces are identical. The number of vertebrae, the bone shapes, and the exact tone of white vary piece to piece. The sliding knot closure makes it fully adjustable, worn tight as a choker or long as a collar. It also wraps around a hat brim as a bone hatband if you want to take it somewhere unexpected.
