The camel is resting, folded down in that distinctive kneeling pose, and carved into its body is an open-work nativity silhouette — Mary and Joseph by the manger, the Star of Bethlehem above them, cut all the way through the wood. The top edge keeps the original dark bark of the olive branch, the same live-edge detail that runs through this whole series of ornaments, giving each one a raw natural accent against the polished wood.
