This 3-inch Apache Kachina is handcrafted by Jacida and DeWayne Loley, artists from Shiprock, New Mexico. Known as the Mountain Spirit Dancer, the Apache Kachina is one of the most striking figures in Southwestern tradition, featuring a black mask, white eye markings, and a tall layered headdress painted in bold accents of black, white, and red. Each doll is shaped and painted by hand, finished with natural feathers and fabric elements that honor the ceremonial dress these figures represent.
In Pueblo and Apache tradition, the Mountain Spirits are powerful beings connected to the mountains, called upon for protection, healing, and guidance. This piece reflects the strength and resilience of that spiritual tradition in a compact, displayable form. Because each one is made by hand, colors and details will vary slightly, making yours one of a kind.
