Jacida and Dewayne Loley
At SunWest Treasures, we are proud to share the stories behind the art. Today, we are honored to introduce Jacida and Dewayne Loley, talented artists from Shiprock, New Mexico.
Shiprock is located in the northern part of New Mexico, about 40 miles east of the Four Corners Monument. This area is rich in culture, history, and tradition, which is deeply reflected in their work.
Jacida and Dewayne are the artists who create Navajo Kachina dolls. Their work is based on 100 percent Navajo ideas and traditions. Each doll is handcrafted from aspen wood, and every detail is carefully designed and painted by hand.
Jacida takes great pride in her work and spends the time needed to make each doll special and unique. From carving to painting, every step is done with care. She finds joy in creating these dolls and feels happy knowing how much people enjoy collecting them.
Their work represents more than art. It reflects heritage, craftsmanship, and tradition.
Thank you for supporting Native artists and the stories they share through their creations.
